Tipsport Gamechanger

About the project

Tipsport Gamechanger 2, Champions League. A joint effort between Tipsport and OKTAGON and the biggest project ever on the European MMA scene. A project that changes the rules of the game and the lives of the fighters! For the second time, this time in the lightweight division. In the opening round of the European MMA Champions League with an elimination pyramid system, a total of 16 elite lightweight fighters from all over Europe and the champions of their countries will compete for prize money worth a total of 1 million EURO. In the final round, the top 2 fighters from both sides of the pyramid will compete and the winner will become the best lightweight in Europe and take home the glory and a prize of €300,000.

Prize money

Along with the prestige, prize money will also be up for grabs, the kind of money that has no precedent at tournaments in the Czech Republic. In total, 1,000,000 euros will be fought for, 300,000 of which will go to the winner, and even the least successful fighters will make nearly half a million crowns for one fight. „Tipsport played a huge part in making this project a reality“, said the betting agent’s brand manager Martin Filip. „In comparison to tennis, golf or other tournaments co-organized in the Czech Republic, MMA offers the highest sums of money an individual can stand to make. We believe the fans are going to really appreciate the format OKTAGON has come up with, it’s going to be an amazing event which will entertain fans throughout the year, and obviously, it’s going to be exciting for bettors.“

"The idea behind the Tipsport Gamechanger project was simple - to show that OKTAGON and Tipsport firmly belong together. We wanted to stamp our brand on something extraordinary and forge a strong connection with it. The combination of €1 million prize money and 16 extremely motivated fighters created an explosive mix," recalls Tipsport brand manager Martin Filip. "The first Tipsport Gamechanger had a massive reach and was a huge success, opening doors for us in many European countries, which are now also interested in acquiring the broadcasting rights, such as Greece, Serbia, and Scandinavia, to name a few. It is a huge achievement both for us and for the fighters," says Ondřej Novotný, the OKTAGON organization's promoter. "I'm looking forward to the second season, which will be even bigger and, of course, more challenging in some ways," he adds.

Deployment of fighters

The fans are the key element of the entire tournament. In addition to the aforementioned tournament participant selection, defeated fighters can be reinstated as part of the "lucky loser" wild card. The tournament will take place over a total of five dates. The first of these will take place on 2.03.2024 in Ostrava, where there will be 8 standard fights and 1 reserve fight. The quarterfinals will be held during two tournaments, followed by the semifinals and finals in one tournament. Both quarterfinal dates will also feature a reserve fight, so we'll see a total of six quarterfinal duels. The reserve fight will feature the aforementioned "lucky losers", who can return to the main part of the tournament if any of the qualifiers sustain an injury

General partner

"We are grateful that this project came to fruition and we thank Tipsport for their collaboration. It's a sign that both parties are satisfied with our present cooperation and it makes sense for us to continue working together in the future. We are proud that two domestic companies can grow together." stated Ondřej Novotný about the project.

Tipsport

"We think the project we're launching is the right step forward, and not only because it bears our name. The international representation gives the tournament a lot of prestige and we also see the attention Tipsport Gamechanger is receiving and we consider OKTAGON's move in this direction to be a great decision," adds Tipsport's brand manager.
